Six Great IPN magazines to choose from…
As we've communicated over these four years, funding an independent press is a daily challenge, with every penny received covering an essential current expense. As such, we made an appeal to the Independent Press Network (IPN), and six fine indy publishers stepped forward to offer their magazines to fulfill the outstanding issues in your subscription. Their contact information is posted below, to assist you in your selection. We are tremendously grateful for the support we have received from the member titles of the IPN over the years, and it is our hope that you'll be inspired to continue on with one of these unique magazines.
Please respond by May 15, 2008, and let us know:
— No: I do not choose to have my remaining subscription issues fulfilled.*
— Yes: I'd like to select a magazine below to fulfill my remaining subscription issues.
*Note: We welcome your response/comments. We also understand your busy lives. A lack of reply will be recorded as a "No."

Sea Kayaker Magazine: Experience the world's waterways through this bimonthly magazine, full of inspiration, information and adventure. www.seakayakermag.com , 206.789.9536
Sacred Fire, The Modern Voice of Ancient Tradition, is a quarterly magazine for the "eco-spiritual" reader. At Sacred Fire, we believe the next "new thing" is the "old thing" — living simply and in "right relationship" with all of creation. We feature the wisdom, humor, stories and lifeways of spiritual elders, healers, tradition holders and everyday people who experience life in close connection with nature and Divine. Through our beautifully illustrated interviews, articles, essays, poetry and art, readers re-discover a worldview that offers solid footing in troubled times. Sacred Fire re-awakens the indigenous heart in all of us, so we can find healing, create loving relationships and build sustainable communities that honor and celebrate the Divine energies alive and at play in the world. www.sacredfiremagazine.com, 831.466.0872
Progressive Populist: is a twice-monthly journal, published in tabloid newspaper format, that reports on issues of interest to workers, small businesses and family farmers and ranchers. Our columnists include Jim Hightower, Amy Goodman, Jesse Jackson, Margot Ford McMillen, Garrison Keillor, Joan Retsinas, Alexander Cockburn, Arianna Huffington, Gene Lyons, Froma Harrop, David Sirota, Joyce Marcel, Norman Solomon and other plutocrat pluckers who believe that people are more important than corporations. We consider ourselves a progressive populist antidote to the corporate daily news. You can find samples of our work at www.populist.com, 712.732.4991
Greater Good: is published quarterly by The Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley. It is a new voice of compassion, hope, and inspiration. Four times a year, it highlights ground breaking scientific research into the roots of altruistic human relationships, and fuses this research with inspiring stories of compassion in action. In the process, it provides a bridge between social scientists and parents, educators, community leaders, and policy makers. Its underlying goal is to highlight the strides we're making (and obstacles we're encountering) toward becoming a more benevolent society. Each issue includes a series of essays on the same general theme, such as forgiveness, moral inspiration, and everyday ethics. They offer practical, research-tested tools for tackling important social, moral, and educational issues and show how ordinary people in their own communities can help build a more peaceful world. In its first year, Greater Good was named one of the best new publications in the country by Utne magazine. www.greatergoodmag.org, 510.643.8965
Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture: Published by B-Word Worldwide, a nonprofit, independent, feminist media organization, it is a print magazine devoted to feminist analysis and media criticism. Bitch features critiques of TV, movies, magazines, advertising, and other elements of pop culture. We also interview feminist pop culture makers, review new books and music, and lots more. We're in the process of evolving into a multimedia organization, starting with our website. We seek to be a fresh, revitalizing voice for feminism, one that welcomes complex arguments, showcases witty and whip-smart critiques of popular culture, and refuses to ignore the contradictory and sometimes uncomfortable details that constitute the realities of life in an unequivocally gendered world. We seek to forge connections between the sociocultural messages we get and the commercial agendas of who's behind them. It's about creating a dialogue — making people aware that the dissenting views they hold are, in fact, shared by many. It's about asking ourselves and each other questions: Where are the places in the mass media that don't insult our intelligence? How can we get more of them? We're about saying, We can make them. www.bitchmagazine.org, 877.212.4824
